Meeting called to order by Alli at 6:04 pm

Motion by Isaiah, Second by Adam, Motion made to approve minutes - Motion passes

 

Treasurer's Report:  Current balance is $797.42

Motion to approve, Brady motioned, Second by Rhiannon - Motion passes

 

Activity led by Ms. Brenda was the Balloon Tower

  • We learned how to collaborate and work together to accomplish the task.

 

Presentation was by Jessie Packer.

  • Jessie taught us about a race horse foundation, called Hillbilly Equestrian.  The horses that can't race are rehomed through the Pony Horse Foundation.  They train the horses with a plan with training days and rest days. A lot of the horse people wanted back after they were trained, but the horses became family.  Jesse introduced us to many of the Hillbilly Equestrian racehorses.

 

Old Business

  • T-Shirts - Update from the committee

    • ​Jesse researched the colors and styles

    • Alli has a design

    • Brady is also on the committee

    • Commitee members will exchange phone numbers and meet with Brenda to come up with the total cost by next meeting

  • Fundraisers - Talked about them at the last meeting.

    • One idea is to purchase a scale for the market animals (Vaughn , do an activity, buy T-shirts for members, shavings for the fair, or other ideas 

    • In the past we've done wreaths.  Not going to do this this year.

    • Other ideas generated

      • Barbecue challenge (see if we can combine our efforts with theirs)

        • bake sale

        • raffle for wristbands for the fair.

        • baskets with silent auction 

      • Spaghetti dinner at one of the stations. 

      • Yard sale (with donations from members)

      • Raising a pig and doing a raffle,

      • Gift vouchers (15% back to club) for one purchase (Alli will call Rochelle)

      • Beef jerky (Brady will investigate)

      • Car Wash in Saddlebrooke or at Linda Vista Fire station or Burger King (Isaiah will check with 

      • Pancake breakfast

    • Parking lot cleanup at the fair

    • Richard will call Sarah at the UA to see if we have UA insurance cover us to do that (how much is the policy?)

    • We need to decide what we'd like to do.  We'll get some dates and decide at the next meeting.

  • Community service

    • Could combine barbecue option and yard sale also as a community

 

New Business

  • Shooting Sports

    • Have several members interested in this.

    • Mr. Charter is willing to lead shooting sports clup if anyone is interested.  

    • Interested people wrote their name and email on the sign-in sheet.

 

New Website (Anne and Christian started up a new website for the club)

Volunteers for the website are Emmalee, Jesse, Brady, Richard, and Christian

  • Written to Sheryl Cervi and others about speaking

  • Have a farrier talk about health care

  • Clinic on improving barrel and pole times

  • Vaughn offered arena for practice

  • Need to get together to find a time we can gather and set up the year.

  • Sorting is still on

  • State - November 13-15

  • Tractor Supply - open house for 4H on September 19th

 

Dog (Meghan)

  • Pusch Ridge will be dog group, since only one person so far 

 

Gardening (Jen)

  • Plant on September 26th at Jen's house; she will send email

  • Fair - will enter carrots and cabbage

  • Home Depot is donating soil

 

Dairy (Skip)

  • Ownership is a big deal

  • Talk with Skip if interested

 

Rabbit (Makayla)

  • See Makayla for a calender and a contract

  • Fur and feather coming up

 

Swine, goat and sheep (Makayla)

  • Makayla has schedules

  • Sign contract today

 

Meghan has 4-H record books and 4-H member books
