Christian and Richard summarized the notes. The minutes to last month’s meeting were posted on the website. Everyone should have received an email on how to access them.

Old Business - Allisun

T-Shirts

  • Will be passing sheet around for everyone to write their names and shirt sizes on. The shirts are pretty much standard sizes.For anyone not at the meeting, send any additional T-shirt needs to Brenda.

  • Each member will receive a shirt

  • Adults will need to pay for shirts (between $10-15 each).

 

Tractor Supply 4h appreciation week

  • Special thanks to those that helped sit at the table at Tractor Supply.They raised 637.00 for our club.Will invite the manager to the next meeting to say thank you.

 

Fundraising

  • Would be nice to get a scale for market animals, pay for shavings at the fair. Have a club barbecue.

  • Ideas so far

    • Can do a carwash at Carl’s Jr on most any Saturday.

    • Could do a livestock show or a horse show.

    • Do a clinic.

  • This seems to be an ongoing challenge – this may require a committee to get started.Need 5 volunteers to research options and report back to the club next meeting

Oro Valley Parade

  • Will be on December 12 at 9:30 a.m.

  • Thanks to Ms. Chavez for doing the paper work.

  • Need to turn in a script of how we want to be announced by December 1st

  • We can do 20 non-perishable food items or pay $20 fee.

  • Whole list of float rules, including not dressing as Santa, no throwing candy, kids and animals can be on the float, but no feet dangling, driver 25+, two+ adults walking next to the float,All four sides must be decorated, 8 inch clearance, must have a fire extinguisher, no political messages, prefer people in club uniform, one adult on the trailer.

  • We are in the first lot, so we will start and finish first

  • Meet at Ironwood Ridge High School at 8:30pm

  • Mr. Dotson has graciously offered his equipment to use in the parade

  • Perhaps we could advertise our sponsors/donors on the float? (tractor supply and cactus RV)

  • Everyone needs to be there, except the kids buying the pigs that day.

  • Need to collect Christmas decorations if members have extras for decorating

  • 2 foot by 10 foot banners being provided by Coca Cola to advertise Tractor Supply

  • Need to organize committee for decorating and obtaining banners from sponsors

New Business

BBQ Challenge (12:30-2:30 approximately; Brenda will confirm time) is at the Steam Pump Ranch put on by the Northwest Firefighters

  • Is same day as Oro Valley Parade.Organizers offered to let us help with a booth if we so choose. Would satisfy community service.Booth would consist of handing out prizes/tickets for the guy who is providing entertainment for kids at the event. Would only be a couple of hours.Any takers?

  • Tabled until next meeting, since some folks in pig project might get their pigs earlier.

 

Membership

This is a reminder that everyone needs to go to website to register ASAP.  Az4honline.com Need to get numbers finalized for roster submittal to the county ASAP.

 

Project reports

  • Gardening – Ms. Jenn (out of town)

  • Horse – Ms. Brenda

    • Winter Point Show information and forms are on the website. Mail in deadline is. Roping and Sorting are still pending but when dates are set there will be separate entry forms for them with their own deadline dates so don't wait for them to do the ones now available.

      Jump Qualifying for WPS: Nov. 7 at Taylor Ranch at 8:30        Nov. 14 at Adamcins Quarter Horses at 1:00      Directions are on the website.  Please email Jo Ann the members name, level testing, and which location they will be attending.  jam.equstrian@gmail.com

      Judging will be held on Nov. 22 at Ironwoord Ranch. Directions on website. Sign up is from 10:30-10:50. Halter class will be Arab geldings and performance is Trail.  Dress code will be strictly enforced. Bring clipboard and pencil.

      Whip n Spur Ranch has team roping practice Fridays at 5:00 and regular practice on Sundays at10:00. Must be qualified to show at WPS. 

      Sorting is starting up for this year. It is being held at Phil Nichols place (address on website). Norielle Ziemann is the Sorting Coordinator. Practices are scheduled for: Nov. 8 & 22, Jan. 10 is tentative, Jan. 24, Feb. 14 & 28, and March 13 & 27. You MUST RSVP to Norielle at 975-7939 to reserve a parking spot by the Friday evening before each practice. Trailer space is very limited so trailer pooling is encouraged. You must be qualified by Jan. 24 to be eligible to show at WPS which will be Jan. 31 or Feb. 14.

      Club Leaders, don't forget about the new rule that entails volunteers for point shows. Every 3 exhibitors from your club must provide 1 volunteer. 
      5.    Each  club  must  provide  one  volunteer  for  every  three  members  showing  in  Point  Shows for  their  members  to  be  allowed  to compete.  The  Horse  Project  Leader will  provide  a  list  of the  name(s)  of  said  volunteers  to  the  Show  Secretary  by  the  entry  deadline  date  of  each show.  All  assignments  will  be  posted  at  the  show  trailer on day  of show. 

      The Youth Advisory Board members are trying to keep our Facebook page current. If you have information you would like posted, please send it to them. Their email addresses are on the HAB contact list on the website.

  • Dog – Ms. Megan

    • Pusch Ridge Riders are willing to accept anyone who is interested in a dog project

    • Went to State 3 weeks ago.

  • Shooting Sports – Sara Charter

    • Will send out an email

    • Has been

    • Team up with Northwest Riders

    • Can’t be leaders until completing the training.

    • Things get going in November;currently no shows

    • Call Ms. Charter know if you’re interested by calling 370-0099

  • Sheep/swine/Rabbit/goat– Ms. Makayla/Mr. Anthony

    • Rabbit – Makayla has list of shows and information about meat pen, rules, when you can check out, etc. Has ownership paperwork, fair paperwork; have a show on Saturday(8am), $8 per class, there’s a flier with more info.

      • Have a swine meeting planned on the 7th and 21st of this month at 3 p.m.

      • Trying to reserve fire station.

      • Quality Assurance is required to tag and sell any market animal. November 10th and December 10th, 5:30-8:30 pm, UA extension office

      • Tag-in is January 3rd

      • Ron Garrigan’s Pig Sale is December 12th

      • Attendance is starting tonight, need to come to community meetings, pig meetings, and at least one show
