Presentation by Kaylinn on how her interest in 4-H developed over time

 

Cloverbuds dismissed to do a gardening activity.

 

New members:

  • Cathryn - Lamb, chicken, goat, dog, horse, rabbits

  • Megan - goats

 

Activity by Brady that's similar to Mindfield - one person is blindfolded and the partner has to lead you through without stepping on the "mines."

 

Old Business

T-Shirts

  • Cactus RV is willing sponsor purchase t-shirts for all club members. Adults will purchase.

  • McKenna, Jessie and Allisun were on the committee.

  • McKenna presented the T-shirt options including colors and design.

    • Design proposed after discussion

      • Decided not to update the animals, so the shirt can be used multiple years.

      • 4-H circle with clover with head, heart, health, and hands on left, top front (over heart)

      • Catalina Mountaineers with "Established in 2001" on the back

      • Sponsor on the sleeve.

    • Color options

      • 4-H green with white graphics (13 in favor) or gray with blue graphics (3 in favor)

Tractor Supply 4th appreciation week

  • Runs October 5-18

  • Catalina store has asked if we could come to their store anytime during these couple of weeks and show the community what we are about.  We can do a cookout to raise money.  Mrs. Port will ask Sam's Club for donation of hotdogs, buns, etc.) Sam's Club and Tractor supply are both owned by the Walton family.  Mr. Packer offered the use of his BBQ.  As a backup, we can ask to use the North Tucson Firefighter's union BBQ.

  • Need posters, pencils, stickers, boards as info.

  • Need 2-4 members with parents per night to share posters, info, etc.. We can choose a couple of nights to participate.

    • Monday:  Davidsons, Kaylinn, and Richard

    • Tuesday Adam, Isaiah, and the Ernests

    • Thursday: Ernests  6pm -8pm

  • Barbecue on October 17th from 10am - 2pm

    • Brenda will turn in the paperwork.

    • Christian, Ryland, Ernests, Kylie, Adam, Packers?, Bells,

    • Brenda will send email to let us know if it will be happening with shifts.

 

Bylaws

  • We didn't have a meeting yet to work on these.  We will have to set up a meeting during October.

 

Fundraisers

  • Updates - Isaiah will be checking on the possibility of doing a carwash.

  • BBQ challenge - Could do "tattoos," goat roping, face-painting, other events.

    • Let's table this idea.

 

New Business

 

Oro Valley Parade - Saturday, December 12th at 9:30 am

  • Will most likely be the same day as the pig sale and the barbecue challenge.

  • Need volunteers to head a committee to determine decorations, fill out application and submit.

    • Annabelle and family will submit the

    • If you're not going to be at the pig sale, we need you on the float.

  • Ms. Brenda has a pickup and trailer we can use.  Skip has a tractor and long flatbed trailer.

 

Project reports

 

Gardening - Ms. Jenn

  • Lots of things sprouting

  • next meeting in November; you'll get an email about date.

  • will plant bean sprouts next

 

Horse - Ms. Brenda

  • Need to submit paperwork

  • Have to do a project book

  • Mock show - October 17th

  • Horse handling - October 24th

  • Brenda has other dates for upcoming shows (Oct 31st, Nov 8th, others)

 

Dog - Ms. Megan

  • State dog shows on 17th and 18th

  • meeting 1-2 times per week to get ready for state

 

Shooting Sports - not here

 

Sheep/swine/rabbit/goat - Ms. Makayla/Mr. Anthony

  • Market

    • meeting October 24th at the Fountains at La Cholla and River at 3:45 pm
